It wasn’t until much later in our relationship…
That I remembered something my grandmother said…
“ you are one of those people who are drawn to trouble “
It is easier to look back and remember how right she was…
Trouble, and I were soulmates for sure…
Like this photo of her…
I know I saw it like a million times…
One day the sunlight reflected across the image..
It was then I noticed her eyes in the mirror…
I heard my grandmother’s voice…
It seemed as if I was stabbed in the heart…
How could I have not noticed…
Two peas in the same pod…
She often said…
This woman I loved…
Was in fact two people in one…
Love is truly blind…
That day the sunlight opened my eyes…
A revelation I never would have believed possible…
A floodgate opened in my heart…
Filled with missing pieces…
Ones hidden by love…
Another thing my grandmother said rang true…
“ that’s just the way you are “
