” she would talk and I would listen “

“ She would talk and I would listen… “

She created such beautiful images with her words…

I began to feel as if I was a part of her life…

I mean as if I was actually there at the very moment…

She spoke of her horses and how she loved to ride…

I began to sit be hinder as we rode across open meadows…

Fields of beautiful flowers…

Trails that led up the mountain she could see from her balcony…

A homestead that her family has owned for generations…

The mountains of Tennessee were special to her people…

They were here first dating back to before the earth flooded…

She shared her bond to the land with me…

I learned to sense her presence in ways I had trouble accepting…

I could hear the hoofbeats…

I could feel the wind as we rode…

I could hear the eagle screech…

I could run with the wolf as it followed the crow…

I would wake up exhausted from dreams…

I would feel her leave in the morning…

I would see her as she stood next to the bed…

I would hear Brat her horse as he grazed in the glenn..

While we made love on summer nights…

I can recall seeing steam from Brat on many of our nightly runs…

I have not felt the same since her passing…

I wake to the sounds of silence…

I find myself drifting in a vast and endless plain of nothingness…

Her voice in the wind is no longer there…

That sense of her presence has passed…

Lord, I know you and I speak often…

And we always have…

I know a part of me is missing…

The love I have is a gift…

It’s one I share…
