Old Sirius has gone to sleep…
Now linger through those dog days come September…
As I traverse the back roads…
I notice all the ponds are down..
Too little rain for half way through our season….
I stop at my usual haunts, fruits and vegetable stands…
Georgia Peaches are everywhere…
Big Boy Tomatoes are a plenty…
Pickups full of Collards, Corn On The Cob…
Farmers I will only see once or twice a year…
We all agree it’s been a dry year…
As the leaves have begun to change…
At the end of my day back at my favorite haunt…
Out of the heat and in the cool air…
As she savors one of our peaches…
She seems caught up in the leaves beginning to change…
There’s nothing better than one of her ice cold sweet teas…
I can only wonder how she will turn my day into a poem…
But, then those are the days I live for…
