A Poet's Haven

All to often the daughters of man
are looked upon as if they are raw meat
package up in beautiful wrappings.
Ours to be taken
placed on pedestals
to be taken down when desired
to be used for raw pleasures.
Used without consent,
called abusive names
forced to bend against their will.
Beaten
Murdered
Cast aside as if they were
a disposable container
litter upon the ground,
filling our streams and oceans.
We were told they were created to be our equal
a compliment to each other a lifelong companion.
They were never meant to be viewed
as a piece of meat.
